Secure and User-Friendly Mobile App for Pflegix
Pflegix operates in the digital aged care industry, providing a platform that connects individuals in need of care with caregivers offering services such as nursing, cleaning, assistance with daily activities, and more. Their goal is to make it easier for people to find reliable, high-quality care while offering caregivers a convenient way to find and manage job opportunities.
Aged care by Pflegox can be provided digitally or, for many regions in Germany are available in the house.

Challenges Before the Project
Pflegix’s website-based platform was inconvenient for caregivers who needed mobile access while working at clients’ residences. Navigating the platform via a browser was frustrating, limiting accessibility and usability. Growing user demand for a dedicated mobile app prompted Pflegix to seek a solution to improve engagement and streamline operations.
Business Objectives
Enhance accessibility and usability for caregivers and patients.
Improve overall user experience and platform engagement.
Expand Pflegix’s services to mobile users by developing a dedicated mobile application.
Problem Statement
Key Challenges
Pflegix’s platform was only accessible via a web portal, making it difficult for caregivers to efficiently:
Find and apply for care requests while on the go.
Communicate with clients via chat.
Receive important notifications about job opportunities, such as cancellations, appointments or special needs requests.
Upload and manage personal information and payment details.
Receive reminders and requests.
Many users requested a mobile application to make access and navigation easier. However, the existing mobile web optimization had significant usability issues, making it difficult for caregivers to perform essential tasks quickly.
Impact on Business Operations & User Experience
Decreased user engagement due to platform inconvenience on mobile devices.
Growing demand from users for a dedicated mobile app.
Missed opportunities for growth and expansion due to limited accessibility.
Project Goals & Scope
Pflegix aimed to develop a mobile application for iOS and Android using React Native to enhance accessibility and user experience for caregivers. The app needed to support seamless authentication, KYC verification, payments, and chat functionalities, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow for users. A key focus was delivering the app on time with high test coverage (>90%), while automating DevOps processes to enable efficient deployment and updates. Additionally, security testing was a priority to identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities before launch. The mobile app was designed to include:
Authentication & KYC verification for secure access.
Payment & payout integration via Stripe for easy transactions.
Payment & payout integration via Stripe for easy transactions.
Creation and management of care requests for streamlined service booking.
Notifications & user feedback features to enhance engagement and responsiveness.
By implementing these features, Pflegix aimed to improve usability, security, and operational efficiency, ensuring a seamless experience for both caregivers and clients.
Solution & Implementation

Technology Stack & Approach
To ensure fast development, scalability, and maintainability, we used:
React Native + Redux for a unified mobile experience on iOS and Android.
Bitrise for CI/CD, enabling automated app signing, testing, and deployment.
Stripe integration for secure payment processing.
Creation and management of care requests for streamlined service booking.
Jest + Enzyme + Detox for automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Challenges & Solutions
Security Vulnerabilities Identified
Issue:During the API integration phase, we discovered a security flaw in the existing backend used for both the web portal and the mobile app.Solution:We performed a detailed security review, identified critical vulnerabilities, and collaborated with Pflegix’s backend team to fix the issues before launch.
Ensuring Seamless User Experience
Issue:The platform’s transition to mobile required optimization of chat features, payments, and request management.Solution:Usability testing was conducted with real users to refine the interface and ensure a seamless experience.
